Parks: Cabin John Regional Park has a playground with several different things to play on, a picnic area with shelters that can be reserved, and a miniature train that children can use to ride around the park. Great Falls Park has many opportunities to explore history and nature, all in a beautiful 800-acre park only about 15 miles from the Bethesda region. Rock Creek Park offers visitors an opportunity to reflect and relax through the beauty of nature. Fresh air, beautiful trees, wild animals, and the sounds of Rock Creek make for a peaceful setting.

 

Airports/Transportation: Reagan National Airport is approximately 22 miles from the North Bethesda region. Other airports that serve this area include: Washington Dulles International Airport and the Baltimore Washington International Airport. Hopping on the metro at White Flint Station is easy and convenient, or you can take the MARC Train, which is a commuter rail system whose service areas include Harford County, Maryland; Baltimore City; Washington D.C.; Brunswick, Maryland; Frederick, Maryland and Martinsburg, West Virginia.

 

Elementary Schools: Luxmanor Elementary School, “where learning takes flight,” is a public elementary school serving grades K-5 in nearby Rockville. Arcola Elementary School, home of the Arcoloa Alligators, is located in Silver Spring.

 

Middle Schools: Tilden Middle School is a public middle school for students in grades 6, 7, and 8 that is located in Rockville. Sligo Middle School will increase the rigor and variety of its educational programs to provide every student with academic and social opportunities to become skilled, productive members of a global society.

 

High Schools: Walter Johnson High School is named in honor of the late Washington Senators' baseball pitcher, Walter Johnson, who resided in a Bethesda house which still stands just a few miles away from the school on Old Georgetown Road. After retiring from baseball, Walter Johnson became a county commissioner for Montgomery County. Winston Churchill High School is a public high school which opened in 1964. It is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and by the Maryland State Department of Education.

 

Colleges/Universities: University of Maryland (Shady Grove and College Park) is a public research university, the flagship institution of the University System of Maryland, and one of only 61 members of the Association of American Universities (AAU). The University advances knowledge, provides outstanding and innovative instruction, and nourishes a climate of intellectual growth in a broad range of academic disciplines and interdisciplinary fields. American University is a Methodist private, liberal arts and research university in Washington, D.C.

 

Restaurants: There are several wonderful dining options in the North Bethesda/WHeaton region. A few of our favorites include: Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s, Bertucci’s Italian Restaurant, Timpanos Italiain Chop House, and TGIF.

 

Sports Venues: The Verizon Center, home to the NBA's Washington Wizards, the NHL's Washington Capitals, the WNBA's Washington Mystics and the NCAA's Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team, is less than nine miles from the Bethesda area.

 

Shopping: White Flint Mall is a regional mall/shopping center featuring luxury tenants, shopping, entertainment and dining in the Washington, DC area. Montgomery Mall, Best Buy, and Target are also nearby for your shopping convenience.

 

Museums: The Smithsonian Museums are only a short drive away and offer the world's largest museum and research complex, with 19 museums, 9 research centers and more than 140 affiliate museums around the world. Recreation: Montgomery Aquatic Center is conveniently located in North Bethesda within walking distance of White Flint Metro station and the 1-270 corridor. The Center provides a variety of recreational water activities for all ages and the pool features include: pool features include: an 8-lane L-shaped main pool, divided into two 25-meter swim areas, a warm water leisure pool, two separate hydrotherapy pools, a 10-meter diving platform and interior water slide, an exercise room, snack bar, locker and shower facilities, saunas, a lighted outdoor jogging trail and enclosed racquetball courts. White Oak Bowling Lanes is a great destination for a day of family fun as well.
