Out And About In White Plains.

Parks: Delfino Park is fun for the whole family or for large groups. It features a baseball field, handball courts and a small playground area for younger children. During the winter season, there is an indoor ice skating rink as well. Silver Lake Park provides abundant recreational activities amidst plenty of trails and open space to wander. Turnure Park is a place for the whole family. Whether you are taking a leisurely walk with a loved one or bringing the children out for fun on the playground, Turnure Park has something for everyone. Other beautiful parks in the area include: Cranberry Lake Co Park, Gardella Park and Kittrel Park.

 

Airports/Transportation: Westchester County Airport is a public airport located in the towns of Harrison, North Castle and Rye in Westchester County, New York. Laguardia Airport is located approximately thirty miles south of White Plains and John F. Kennedy International Airport is approximately 35 miles south. The White Plains Train Station, Metro-North Railroad and the Bee Line Bus Terminal White Plains make getting around the area by train or bus quite convenient.

 

Elementary Schools: Good Counsel Academy Elementary is a private Catholic school sponsored by the Sisters of the Divine Compassion. Post Road Elementary School offers students a brand new, state of the art building to provide them with cutting edge technologies, and research based practices. Ridgeway Elementary School is a child-centered, enthusiastic, engaging and structured community that fosters learning.

 

Middle Schools: White Plains Middle School is one school spread out among two campuses: Highlands and Eastview. The school offers French or Spanish study beginning in 6th grade, allowing students to receive one high school credit. St. Anthony of Padua School’s curriculum is based on the academic principles each person needs to succeed in today’s world with a strong emphasis on Catholic values. Other great middle schools in the area include: Windward School, Richard J Bailey School and Our Lady of Sorrows School.

 

High Schools: White Plains High School is located on a beautiful 75-acre campus and offers almost 400 courses to ninth through twelfth graders. Archbishop Stepinac High School is an all-boys Roman Catholic high school in White Plains, which was operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York until the 2009-2010 school year when it became independent. Maria Regina High School is a private, Catholic all-girls high school located in Hartsdale.

 

Colleges/Universities: Berkeley College - Westchester Campus is a coeducational college specializing in business with eight locations in New York and New Jersey. Mercy College is a private college providing a valuable, high quality education. Sanford-Brown Institute - White Plains is part of a network of private schools committed to educating trained, confident professionals for a growing number of career opportunities in the health-care and related industries. Other area colleges and universities include: The College of Westchester, Pace University Westchester, Westchester Community College, Fordham University, New York Medical College, Hebrew Institute of White Plains and the NY School for the Deaf.

 

Restaurants: Morton's The Steakhouse is one of the top steak restaurants and fine dining experiences in White Plains. Graziella's Restaurant is the premier destination for great Italian cuisine. Vintage Bar & Restaurant, Legal Sea Foods - City Center, 42 The Restaurant, Reka's Thai Restaurant, BLT Steak and Blue are a few of our other area favorites.

 

Sports Venues: The Meadowlands Sports Complex is home to the NFL New York Giants as well as the New York Jets and Yankee Stadium, in the Bronx, NY is not far from White Planes either.

 

Shopping: The Galleria at White Plains and The Westchester are our two favorite White Plains malls for all of your shopping and fashion necessities.

 

Museums: The Westchester Children's Museum is a vibrant, interactive learning space providing children, families and school groups the opportunity to nurture curiosity, enhance knowledge and ignite imagination through creative hands-on exploration. The Neuberger Museum of Art is a museum of 20th century and contemporary art in Westchester County. The Greenburgh Nature Center is a 33-acre nature preserve with trails, a pond and gardens.

 

Entertainment: Enjoy a live theater or musical performance at the White Plains Performing Arts Center or the Westchester Broadway Theatre; or catch a movie at the Cinema DeLuxe at City Center.
